ikon GmbH of Ulm, Germany now starts delivering version 2.1 of their VoIP-CAPI, a product which was successfully introduced into the market more than 2 years ago.
VoIP-CAPI acts like a virtual ISDN card running on Windows and allows the easy integration of CAPI based applications in networks supporting Voice and Fax over IP according to the H.323 standard.
The new release has some new features regarding the communication with Cisco Call Manager 4.0 and Call Manager Express like the Cisco special variants for displaying the Calling Party Number on diverted calls or the Call Transfer. Additionally some improvements in Fax handling and support of Hyperthreading CPUs have been integrated.
In the first quarter of 2005 the Linux support of VoIP-CAPI will be completed, as well as a special "embedded" variant which will run on small systems like IP phones and will also support Realtime Operating Systems. On the road map for next year are – among others – the integration of SIP and Soft Codecs like G.729.
