The ikon PR8c is the first product of a series of Multi-E1 Boards in PCI, PMC and cPCI format. It is a PICMG 2.16 compatible 6HE CompactPCI board with 8 E1 interfaces and CAPI4Linux Software package including the Euro-ISDN protocol.
The integrated Freescale MPC8264 Network Processor supports routing of the data channels in HDLC or bittransparent format (e.g. for voice data) via the PCI bus to the Host. Additionally the PR8c is equipped with a Channel Switch to connect timeslots on the E1 interfaces and/or the H.110 bus directly. An integrated Telecom Clock Management device for the E1 interfaces and the H.110 bus is also built in.
The board is controlled via CAPI4Linux. With the integrated Euro-ISDN protocol it can be used all over Europe. All interfaces may also be operated without signalling protocol for usage in special applications e.g. in a pure Channel Switching Unit.
The price starts with 10.350.- € for the Board incl. Firmware and CAPI4Linux Host Software for intel CPUs. Linux for PowerPC CPUs is also supported. The PR8c is available with front I/O or rear I/O.
As an additional variant CAPI for Windows support is planned.
