DECT Ethernet Base Stations and Interworking Unit

General

The ikon IP-DECT System consists of the IP-DECT Base Stations with Ethernet connection and the IP-DECT Interworking Unit (IWU) for control of the Base Stations and the appropriate Mobiles. A special cabling between Base Stations and IP-DECT Interworking Unit is not necessary. On the IP-DECT Interworking Unit the available functionality of the mobile Phones can be controlled, like e.g. Call Establishment and Disconnection and Implemen¬tation of application specific key-controlled Menus e.g. a centralized Phone Book or calling special functions or applications on the Server via a mobile Phone.

Furthermore the IP-DECT Interworking Unit manages the dynamic assignment of Mobiles to the connected DECT Base Stations on their own and support Roaming and Handover for the mobile Phones.

The IP-DECT Interworking Unit also implements the transition to VoIP Networks by using functionality of the ikon VoIP-CAPI. For the transition to the ISDN Network ikon ISDN boards are available.

Via a SIP connection the IP-DECT System may be very easily integrated in existing solutions like e.g. PC-based PBXs.

IP-DECT Interworking Unit (IWU)

• Embedded PC (fan less, without Hard disk) running Windows XPe incl. IP-DECT System Software (only VoIP/SIP).
• Server running Windows XP for bigger Systems.

IP-DECT System Software

(on Interworking Unit)

• Conversion of the Connections with the Ethernet Base Stations to VoIP (SIP and H.323) or ISDN. The DECT Mobiles act like e.g. SIP User Agents.
• Conversion of the Supplementary Services of the PBX for usage with the DECT mobile Phones.
• Control and Configuration of the Base Stations via IP incl. Registration of the mobile Phones.
• Suitable for deployment with IP-Centrex.
• Control of the Voice Connections and transmission of the Voice data (also DECT/VoIP and DECT/ISDN Interworking).
• Optional customer specific extended functions with/on the Mobile Phones.
• Integrated G.726 / G.711 soft Codec for the conversion or direct routing of the G.726 DECT Voice data.

General Features

• Support of Siemens Gigaset DECT Mobiles and of standard GAP compatible Mobiles (with reduced functionality).
• Seamless Handover and Multi-Location (Unique Registration of the Mobile Phones).
• Mobile Phones are administered centrally by the Server (Registration of any number of Mobile Phones possible).
• Optional extended functions like e.g. display of Caller Number or various text messages or customer specific menus (e.g. for a centralized phone book - depending on the mobile Phones).
• Further Supplementary Services like e.g. Call Transfer depending on the PBX.

IP-DECT Ethernet Base Station

• Low cost DECT Base Station with Ethernet Connection (with the Interworking Unit).
• Integrated DECT Module with 6 DECT Channels (up to 4 parallel Voice connections via DECT, up to 6 in single cell mode).
• Internal Antenna and SMA socket for connection of external Antenna.

• Synchronization with other Base Stations via DECT - e.g. for seamless Handover.
• Frequency range configurable (1.80 - 1.93 GHz (for Europe, Australia, Africa, Asia, South America, USA and Canada).
• Transmission of Voice data to the Interworking Unit via Ethernet in G.726 format.
• Power supply with a wall plug transformer (delivery item).

Deliverable IP-DECT Systems

All IP-DECT Systems are complete solutions and may be extended e.g. with additional Base Stations or Users.

• IP-DECT System 2 and 5: 2 resp. 5 IP-DECT Ethernet Base Stations incl. IP-DECT System Software for the connection to the PBX via VoIP, 10 resp. 25 User licenses.
• IP-DECT System 20 and 50: like System 5, with 20 or 50 IP-DECT Ethernet Base Stations, 100 or 250 User licenses.
